Southampton vs Bournemouth

Bournemouth has never won at Southampton. The Cherries head for the short trip east, as they look to turn things around with their first win – will it be a case of 16th times a charm? or will the solid-looking Saints build on their steady start?
In the current Premier League 2019/20 Season, the Saints are sitting in a decent mid-table position and will expect home advantage to provide a win for their loyal supporters. The Cherries are coming off a good win last week, however, against a struggling Everton team that is having a hard time finding the rhythm in their newly bonded squad.
Premier League Talking points:
- The Saints are on a roll as of late, having conceded just once in their last four games after the tough opening to their campaign
- Bournemouth has history against them, having never beaten Southampton away. The Cherries first played at Southampton in a 1953 1-all draw in the FA Cup. Since then they have lost nine and drawn six
- Both teams have ended up with a draw in four of their previous five Premier League matches – another stalemate is certainly on the cards here
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Southampton 2.12 v Bournemouth 3.75; Draw 3.70
- 1-all Draw at 3.70 in the head-to-head markets
Leicester v Tottenham Hotspur

Well, given Spurs form over the last few Premier League Campaigns it would have been hard to expect that they would be level with the Foxes – split only by goal difference.
The Foxes were a little unlucky to leave Old Trafford pointless last week. With Jamie Vardy in particularly fine form, we expect them to win an entertaining and tight match against the Spurs, who have been somewhat up-and-down this season.
A big question would surely be coming up soon, are the Spurs grace period as top three title contenders seemingly coming to an end soon?
This match is a dream for the punter though, with plenty of markets offering some really attractive bets, including a Leicester victory at 3.00, the draw at 3.60, and the Over 3.5 goals market at 3.20.
Premier League Talking points:
- Leicester have won only one of their six games against Spurs since moving to the King Power Stadium. Consisting of one draw and four losses
- Tottenham have been without a win in their previous eight away Premier League fixtures. Consisting of two draws and six losses
- Brendan Rodgers seems to be the right man as Leicester has picked up 25 points since his first game in March. Only Liverpool (43), Manchester City (37), and Chelsea (27) have sealed more points during this time
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Leicester 3.00 v Tottenham 2.50; Draw 3.60
- Leicester City Midfielder Jimmy Maddison has failed to score with his last 28 shots in the Premier League. Back Maddison at 4.50 to break the duck.
- Stick with England’s golden boy with Harry Kane to score in the match at 2.25 (or 4.70 to score the first goal)
Burnley v Norwich

Burnley’s late recovery at Brighton augers well for their battling spirit and Sean Dyche’s squad will be feeling positive knowing they are just about where many would have expected them to be at this point in the season.
While Turf Moor has become a difficult place for visitors to come in and leave with the spoils. Further, although the Canaries have competed extremely well in the early stages of the season, unfortunately, their great performances so far have come at Carrow Road – including their fair dinkum 3-2 win against the current Premier League Champions Manchester City last time out.
With this in mind, it is difficult to make them favourites for this matchup with Burnley. Based on the poor away performances of the Canaries on the road, and the solid form of Burnley so far in the Premier League Season – we are expecting a Burnley win over Norwich. But, expect goals to be plenty in this one!
Premier League Talking points:
- Norwich are coming off a huge upset against Premier League Champions Manchester City
- Burnley is settling into a solid campaign so far and is doing very well. Defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool would have been expected
- The poor away performances of the Canaries are the big talking point in this game, they have scored just once in two games and conceded an average of three goals per game
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Back a draw between Burnley and Norwich at 3.85
- Head-to-head markets – Burnley 2.06 v Norwich 3.80; Draw 3.85
Everton v Sheffield United

This game should see a real battle between two sides that would be wanting to give their supporters something to cling to. Everton has been very strong, with great performances on home soil at Goodison Park – scoring four goals in two games. The away form is problematic though, having lost to Aston Villa and Bournemouth and splitting the points with Crystal Palace.
Sheffield United, on the other hand, is getting the attention of many, due to their solid start since their return to the Premier League in 2019. Unfortunately, attention doesn’t keep you in the world’s richest league and they have only won once in their five games – albeit to a struggling Crystal Palace team.
For this fixture, we do not see the Blades getting up over the Toffees. Linking back to the previous Premier League Season the Toffees have won six Premier League home fixtures back-to-back. The consensus is in, Everton to walk away with this one.
Premier League Talking points:
- Sheffield United have just the one win this campaign (against the lowly Crystal Palace)
- Everton are riding a massive showing of form at home, having won their previous six Premier League fixtures at Goodison Park
- Sheffield United have done well to pick up draws in both their away games, but Everton looks too big of a task compared to their draws away at Chelsea and Bournemouth previously
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Everton 1.68 v Sheffield United 6.20; Draw 4.00
- Back a 3-1 correct score at 15.5
Manchester City v Watford
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Sunday 22 September, 12:00 am AEST
It has been an unlikely start for Manchester City as they have already dropped five points behind Liverpool on the Premier League Ladder.
Following on from their shock loss to the Canaries last week, we expect the Watford to face a Pep Guardiola backlash. While Watford has not tasted much real success so far, this will certainly not be a game to expect the trend to change.
From the punters perspective, the nice odds combined with the high scoring nature of the Citizens would be a very strong bet to place for a home win featuring the Citizens scoring at least four goals. We also have put some serious thought into Watford getting off the mark and scoring, given CIty is stretched at the back currently in terms of personnel.
Premier League Talking points:
- Manchester City has dropped more points so far than they did in the second half of the previous Premier League Campaign
- Manchester City has won 11 straight games against Watford – and scored an insane 38 goals in those fixtures (almost 3.5 goals on average per win). The previous six meetings between these sides have featured Manchester City scoring 25 times – a remarkable feat of more than four goals per game!
- Watford are sitting at the bottom of the Premier League without a win
- Manchester City has scored 15 goals in their four wins of this campaign
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Any Other Home Win in the Correct Score market at 2.40
- Back Yes for Both Teams to Score at 2.04
- Head-to-head markets – Manchester City 1.12 v Watford 30.0; Draw 12.50
Newcastle v Brighton
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Sunday 22 September, 2:30 am AEST
The Magpies are the favourites on the lists of many pundits and experts to drop down to the Championship at the end of the Premier League 2019/20 Campaign. Although the season is early and in the context of this upcoming fixture, Newcastle can climb up and out of the relegation zone if they are able to pick up the three points.
If Newcastle wins, they will actually leap over Brighton in the Premier League Table. Brighton let their last game slip late on and given the poor performances of both teams, we are backing a low-scoring draw between the two teams.
Premier League Talking points:
- Newcastle have yet to win any of their four Premier League meetings against the Seagulls since both teams were promoted back to the Premier League in 2016/17
- Brighton has only picked up a win once in their previous 14 Premier League fixtures (five draws and eight losses). Further misery for the Seagulls, they have only scored eight goals – unable to get off the mark in eight of these fixtures
- In terms of goals, Newcastle has the lowest Expected Goals value in the Premier League 2019/20 Season at 3.52
- The Seagull’s in-form striker Neal Maupay has scored seven goals in his previous 11 Premier League games
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Newcastle 2.56 v Brighton 3.20; Draw 3.25
- Brighton striker Neal Maupay is a steal at 3.40 in the to Score markets
- The Under 2.5 Goals market is at 1.70
- Back the Under 1.5 Goals market at 2.92
Crystal Palace v Wolverhampton
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Sunday 22 September, 11:00 pm AEST
Both sides suffered thrashings at the hands of London teams last week, largely due to some defensive problems. While Crystal Palace will hope that Wilfried Zaha finally gets on the score sheet and leads the Eagles to a much-needed three valuable points.
The Wolves have suffered a very slow start to the Premier League 2019/20 season which has seen them sitting in the early relegation spot. The fixture will be difficult for both teams, but our thoughts are on the home advantage being vital for Crystal Palace, as well as Wolves having had their midweek Europa League game against Braga.
It seems that Wolves will need to wait a little longer to get their Premier League 2019/20 season started. We are backing a 2-1 win for Crystal Palace over Wolves.
Premier League Talking points:
- Martin Kelly and Connor Wickham remain out for the fixture for Crystal Palace, however, Scott Dann and James Tomkins might find a way back into the squad following injury
- In their loss last week James McArthur was highly missed, if he can make fitness you would expect him to be thrown back into the matchday squad
- Wolves might need to rotate tired legs in this fixture due to their Thursday night Europa League fixture against Braga
- Wolves are struggling this campaign, with three draws and two losses in their opening five games. Unfortunately, they are also the only team in the Premier League that has not led a fixture for a single minute this season
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Crystal Palace 2.74 v Wolverhampton 2.98; Draw 3.25
- Back both teams to score at 2.04
- Under 2.5 Goals market at 1.63
- Back a 2-1 Correct Score finish at 10.50
West Ham v Manchester United
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Sunday 22 September, 11:00 pm AEST
The Hammers will hope to emulate their last home outing with a win against an up-and-down Manchester United team that seems to lack any real style. New man Sebastien Haller has been scoring at free-will and will hope to do so against the experienced gloveman De Gea this weekend.
The Red Devils have been less than convincing of late – mainly due to their low conversion rate of goal scoring opportunities. They have had a mixed bag of results and we feel the Hammers can get something from this game, especially considering the West Ham squad features a very physical midfield.
West Ham has a real opportunity here of securing a strong win for their resume, especially with some apt counter-attacking football – which they used to pick up seven points last season in top six matches against Spurs, Liverpool, and Arsenal.
We are backing towards a 2-1 win for West Ham against Manchester United.
Premier League Talking points:
- West Ham are level on points with Manchester United and a win could find themselves in the top four
- Rumours of Manchester United having an interest to the tune of 90 million pounds for Hammer Declan Rice have been doing the rounds – will a strong showing by Rice this weekend impact that transfer?
- With Manchester United having a slump in form and low scoring conversion from opportunities, this may be the ideal chance for West Ham and their talented squad to take a surge from the middle pack
- West Ham convincingly beat United 3-1 last season at the London Stadium
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – West Ham 3.25 v Manchester United 2.30; Draw 3.70
- Under 2.5 Goals at 2.26
- Back a 2-1 win in the Correct Score market at 12.0
Arsenal v Aston Villa
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Monday 23 September, 1:30 am AEST
The Gunners had some defensive problems late on in last week’s game, and Unai Emery will need to sort that out heading into the match with Aston Villa.
While Arsenal’s attacking style should be difficult for the Villans to combat, with the Gunners expected to pick up the three points. Although Villa has proved difficult to overcome at home, on the road they are a different side and have significant problems against the top six teams.
So far this Premier League campaign, Arsenal have found themselves on the wrong side of a terrible defensive stat. Last week, the Gunners faced a huge 31 shots on goal against Watford (who are at the bottom of the table). To put it in further perspective, no team across Europe has faced more shots on target than the Gunners with 96. A problem that Gunners head coach Unai Emery will be looking to change.
We expect the Emirates to play a big part in the Gunner’s performance this weekend, overwhelming Villa with a 3-1 win.
Premier League Talking points:
- Aston Villa coach Dean Smith will need to make some changes to the way the squad lines up if they are to get anything from this fixture
- Villa’s Wesley is lacking shots on goal averaging a disappointing 1.8 shots per game
- Villa will need to press their midfield up the field to pressure the Arsenal backline to force defensive mistakes as seen in the Watford game
- Rob Holding may be back and able to start, although limited time would be expected
- Gunners are without a win in their previous three fixtures including last week’s disaster against Watford
Betfair Sports Bet Tips
- Head-to-head markets – Arsenal 1.43 v Aston Villa 8.60; Draw 5.20
- Under 1.5 Goals at 6.40
- One team to be shut out with Both Teams to Score at 2.34
Chelsea v Liverpool
Embed from Getty ImagesKick-off: Monday 23 September, 1:30 am AEST
A massive weekend of Premier League football comes to an end with a not-to-miss clash between the Blues and the Reds. For Chelsea, this could be the Blues’ chance to prove their worth this season. A good attacking performance, highlighted by a Tammy Abraham hat-trick last week will give them the confidence for a repeat performance this week, against the Reds.
On the other hand, Liverpool is overflowing with confidence and the team is red-hot and firing on all cylinders. As the only team claiming a maximum points haul so far, the Reds are proving once again that their all-out attacking style is a force to be reckoned with – but could this be the week they are pegged back? by a young and hungry Chelsea team.
Premier League Talking points:
- Liverpool is red hot with their attacking style of football and has claimed maximum points with five wins in as many games
- Both teams coming off tough losses in the Champions League. Liverpool losing at Napoli and Chelsea losing at the Stamford Bridge to Valencia
- Chelsea’s young core continues to go from strength-to-strength and all eyes will be on how Tammy Abraham goes against the strong defensive core of Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip
- No Kante in the midfield for Chelsea will mean that Firmino will boss the game around
